Jimmy signed his first professional contract with Danubio Futbol Club of the Uruguayan 1st Division at the age of 17. His professional career continued for eight years, where he played in Latin America (Cerro, Liverpool, Irapuato), Europe (Ponnistus), and the United States (Ft. Lauderdale Strikers).

Jimmy Obleda holds a USSF A License and has served as a Region IV Assistant Coach and Coaching Education Instructor for Cal South and US Soccer. He is also a member of the Cal South Technical Committee. Jimmy is currently the Head Men’s Soccer Coach at Santiago Canyon College and Head Coach for Deportivo Coras USA (NPSL).                                                                                                                                                                        
In 2011, Jimmy was named Regional Youth Coach of the Year and National Youth Coach of the Year by the NSCAA. In 2012, he was also recognized as the Cal South Nike Coach of the Year.
Jimmy Obleda’s teams have won numerous league, state and regional titles. However, his most significant coaching accomplishment was winning back-to-back USYS National titles in 2011-2012, along with consecutive titles at Dallas Cup, making him the only coach in youth soccer to have ever accomplished this double.                                                                                                                               

As the Director of Coaching for Boca OC, Jimmy Obleda oversees the day-to-day development of the club’s teams and players. His players have been recognized at the regional and national level and many have continued their careers on university and professional teams. His goal is to continue to develop better soccer players in all aspects of their games – technically, strategically, physically, and mentally – and to be a positive influence in their lives.

Jimmy holds a Bachelors Degree in Child Development, a Masters in Cross-Cultural Development and a Masters Degree in Kinesiology.

Jimmy is currently the head coach of the USL 1 Chattanooga Red Wolves.
